Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) practice is an assortment of varied health and medical care structures, products and applications that are not entirely recognized as a part of the standard medical practice. CAM practice does not bear a clear system of certification although still falls under relevant regulatory means of the larger medical field in a given jurisdiction (Ernst & Smith, 2018). The practice may not be largely acknowledged but it comes in handy to support the conventional medical practices. The visit to the Miami Acupuntura was productive, and loaded with information that changed my entire life.
A solid recommendation backed with a solid medical background from my doctor friend aroused the interest in me, thus Miami Acupuncture Center was his pick and I heeded to the advice. I had not formed a clear notion of CAM practice until I visited Miami Acupuntura, a CAM center which specialty is Acupuncture. Before then I felt partly negative about the whole CAM notion. Acupuncture is a form of treatment in the CAM practice that seeks to restore balance in the flow of vital energy throughout the body system (Zhao, 2013). According to my CAM doctor, vital energy flows to every cell, tissue, gland, organ and organ system supplying life-giving nourishment to the entire body. During the visit, there were quite a number of ailments that could be corrected using the concept of acupuncture. More specifically there were allergy and asthma, the conditions that I often suffer from. I informed the doctor that they occured seasonally, especially during the pollination seasons when there is a lot of pollen grains in the air. Dry seasons could also cause some difficulties for my breathing.
There were sets of recommendations that the doctor suggested for my two conditions. Regarding asthma, he exhibited some caution about the lack of effectiveness in the treatment of the condition. The doctor indicated that the acupuncture studies had not yet identified the most specific method to deal with the imbalance that causes asthma (Murthy et al., 2015). Nonetheless, he recommended me to keep visiting the Miami Center since available mild efforts could limit the severity of the condition. As for the allergy, the practitioner suggested to insert needles at specific parts of the body to relieve itchiness, pain or sneezing. I decided to follow the recommendations to visit the center regularly because I needed the relief from asthma. The insertion of needles was scary but I also wanted to limit the effects of the allergy. Therefore I spent some sessions in the ward of the practitioner who executed the acupuncture process. After the sessions, there were more results considering the allergy since the procedure was suited for its treatment. I felt the reduction in itchiness. My eyes no longer became sore. My breathing problems resulting from asthma went down but not significantly.
Overall, I have a positive feedback concerning my visit to the center since a part of my health problems was solved. I owe much gratitude to the practitioner who took time to explain how acupuncture works and for the efforts he incurred to perform the procedure. He also shared a lot of information which would later guide me in living a healthy lifestyle. The recommendations were ideal since they were inclined towards treating the specific ailments. Nonetheless, the research for acupuncture processes is yet to bring the results but the future looks optimistic since there are indications of success. My confidence was greatly boosted after I had realized the results. I was then convinced that CAM practice is an equally important factor in the field of medicine.
