You didn’t need cover. You just ran straight at people and cleaned house. It wasn’t just a perk – it was a playstyle that pushed everything else out of the meta. If you weren’t running it, you were already behind before the match even started.
Now, Embark’s latest patch has really gone in. First, the buff timer’s been chopped down. That window where you felt untouchable? Much shorter now. Second, the damage resistance has been sliced, so you can’t just laugh off an entire clip anymore. You’ll still be tougher, but you’ve got to actually think about positioning. And lastly, the speed boost is still there, but it’s not the lightning dash it used to be. These changes mean chaining kills takes more skill, and you can’t rely on raw perk strength to carry you through every fight. You’ve got to plan ahead, and that’s going to separate the good players from the great ones.
Honestly, it’s a smart move for the long-term health of Arc Raiders. Before, Kinetic Boost was the “win button” – why bother experimenting with tactical or support perks when one option could do it all? The nerf opens the door for more varied builds and team strategies. It forces players to think about synergy and squad roles rather than just going solo with maximum aggression. And while some will grumble, most of us know it’s better for the game’s future. The question now is: what’s the next big thing in the meta?
