Black Ops 7 has been around long enough for that launch buzz to fade a bit, especially with folks bouncing over to Arc Raiders and Battlefield 6, but it really feels like the game’s about to get a second wind with Season 1 landing on 4 December, and if you’ve been messing around in a CoD BO7 Bot Lobby to warm up, you’ll probably notice straight away how these new and returning modes are aimed at pulling people back into proper party nights, not just sweaty ranked grinds. Gun Game returns in that same stretch too; you get a kill, you move to the next weapon, but if somebody sneaks a melee on you, you drop a tier and feel instantly embarrassed in front of your squad. Fresh Objective Play With Takeover Mid-season, Takeover looks like it could quietly become the mode everyone sweats in without admitting it. On paper it’s close to Domination, but the twist is that once your team caps the three zones, they don’t just sit there. They go on cooldown and shift location, so you can’t just park a trophy system and camp a headglitch all game. You’ve got to rotate as a group, pick your fights, decide when to stack bodies on the point for a faster cap and when to hold angles instead. It rewards teams that actually talk, not just five people sprinting in different directions hoping for hero plays. Holiday Chaos And Gear Chat Towards the end of the season, the festive stuff kicks off with Holiday Havoc, a moshpit where smashing the objective gives you “Holiday Cheer” and silly buffs, like a Candy Cane that turns melee swings into something you really do not want to be on the wrong end of. Then there’s Snowfight, which is exactly what it sounds like: no guns, just snowballs and pure nonsense, the kind of mode you jump into after a long evening of sweaty lobbies.
