What actually makes Mirage worth running every map?
Mirage works because it doesn't ask you to stop playing Path of Exile and learn a separate mini-game. You spot the purple shimmer, talk to Varashta, pick a Wish, then step into a copied version of the area with more monsters and more chances at loot. Early on, most players lean toward raw rewards or POE currency because gearing still feels tight. Later, once your build stops falling over, density and rarity choices start to look better. Most of the fixes have been boring but useful: client issues, renderer defaults, vendor search staying put, that sort of stuff. The wider balance changes did matter, though. Energy Shield stacking got checked, slams and minions saw tuning, and several uniques moved from "why would I use this?" to "okay, maybe there's a build here." Coin crafting is still a gamble, and that's part of the charm. You can brick a gem, sure, but you can also land a weird support setup that pushes a skill into something genuinely fun.
